FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Sino American Commerce Association (SACA) officially inaugurated its 13th Board of Directors on January 18 during a gala at the Royal Queen restaurant. The event, attended by more than 1,000 business and political leaders, marked a leadership transition and a significant step forward in digital trade integration for the local business community.
During the ceremony, incoming President Kent Zhou accepted the official seal from outgoing President Gary Kong, formally assuming leadership of the non-profit business organization.

The evening featured high-profile remarks from elected officials, including U.S. Congresswoman Grace Meng, New York State Senator John Liu, State Assemblyman Lester Chang, New York City Councilmember Sandra Ung, and Li De, Deputy Director of the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in New York. The dignitaries commended SACA for its two decades of service in supporting immigrant entrepreneurs and fostering community economic prosperity.
Innovation and Technological Transformation
In his inaugural address, President Kent Zhou emphasized a vision grounded in “innovation” and “pragmatism.”
“For over twenty years, SACA has served as a vital bridge for commerce,” said Zhou. “The 13th Board constitutes a new chapter where we will not only continue serving our community but also actively assist members in adopting new technologies. Our goal is to help member companies identify and seize opportunities in the changing era.”

Strategic Partnership with Alibaba
A highlight of the evening was the signing of a strategic cooperation agreement between SACA and Alibaba.com, a leading global B2B e-commerce platform.
This partnership aims to empower local American businesses to “call New York home while connecting with the globe.” By integrating Alibaba’s global buyer resources with digital trade tools, SACA aims to provide its members with expanded avenues for cross-border trade.
Celebrating Heritage and Community
The gala, opened by Executive Vice President Harry Weng, blended formal business proceedings with cultural celebration. Entertainment included a classical “Peony in Full Bloom” sleeve dance by Ashley Liang and a performance featuring the hit song “Golden.” The evening concluded with a choral rendition of “Tomorrow Will Be Better,” symbolizing optimism for the association’s future.
